Portadown drunk driver smashes into car with baby on board

A car with a baby on board ended up crashing through the window of a Chinese takeaway in Portadown after it was hit by a drunk driver.

The crash happened in the town on Friday night when a family parked up in front of the takeaway.

Police said a drunk driver, in a stolen vehicle, then rammed into the back of the family's car, sending it careering through the front window of the takeaway.

Officers said no one was injured including the six-month-old tot.

The driver was arrested at the scene and was found to be more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with a number a driving offences.

"The lines are too slender. Between prison time and freedom for the offender, between life and death for the victim," police said on Facebook.
