Portaferry RNLI in rescue

Portaferry lifeboat was involved in the dramatic rescue or four men from a fishing vessel that had run aground off the coast on Monday evening, January 3.

A distress call was issued after the 60ft trawler ran into trouble at the entrance to Ardglass habour at 5pm.

Portaferry RNLI, the Portaferry and Newcastle Coastguard and a rescue helicopter from Dublin went to the boat’s aid. The men were taken ashore to a waiting ambulance for treatment. The trawler was refloated.
