Portrush body believed to be missing Dungannon man Marc Mackay

By Nevin Farrell

Police say they believe a body of a man found in the Portrush area on Wednesday night was that of missing Dungannon man Marc Mackay.

He went missing while visiting the north Antrim tourist resort earlier this month.

The body had not been formally identified yesterday morning although at that stage the PSNI said they believed it was Adam Mackay, who was known as Marc to his friends.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A photograph of Mr Mackay (24) had been issued along with a public appeal for information after his family became increasingly worried about him.

He was last seen in the harbour area of Portrush at around 1am on August 3.

He was wearing a short-sleeved blue denim shirt and light blue jeans.

On Facebook, Marc's friends described him as "an amazing person".
