Probe into death of Northern Ireland student in England

By Amanda Ferguson

Police in England are investigating the unexplained sudden death of a young man from Northern Ireland.

James Steen (23), from Poyntzpass, was found dead at a house in Wood Street, Rugby, shortly after six o'clock on Saturday morning.

The Newcastle University student is the half brother of Rev Ivan Steen, who is the minister at Windsor Presbyterian Church in south Belfast.

Three men were questioned in connection with James Steen's death but later bailed as police inquiries continue.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: "His death is currently being treated as unexplained but as part of police enquiries three local men, aged 31, 29 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday morning. They were interviewed over the weekend and have since been bailed until September while investigations continue."

A statement from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland said: "We wish to give the family the space and privacy it needs at this difficult time and assure them of our prayerful support."
