A Romanian man who is wanted by gardai in Co Donegal appeared in court in Londonderry yesterday on a prostitution charge.

The defendant, Razan Nocolae Gros (25), whose address was given as Kular Court at William Street in the city, is charged with controlling the activities of a Romanian woman for the purposes of prostitution.

He is further charged with obtaining an improper Romanian driving licence and an improper Romanian identity card.

District Judge Barney McElholm was told that when police searched the defendant's flat they found a Romanian woman as well as “paraphernalia associated with prostitution”. The defendant said the woman was his girlfriend.
