PSNI appeal for information following sexual assault on teenage girl in Ballymoney

The PSNI are appealing for information and witnesses following a sexual assault which took place in Ballymoney on Friday.

Detectives have said they received a report at 11.25pm on Friday August 5th that a young teenage girl had been sexually assaulted on Thursday between 4pm and 6pm close to a leisure centre’s outdoor football pitches.

An 18-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of a number of offences sexual offences including sexual activity by an adult with a child and remains in custody at this time assisting with police enquiries.

A police spokesperson said “Our investigation is underway and we are especially keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time this incident took place as it was still within daylight hours at the time mentioned to please contact 101 quoting reference number 2034 06/08/22.”
