PSNI arrest man on suspicion of impersonating a police officer

PSNI have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of impersonating a police officer.

A member of the public reported that they were driving on Longstone Street in Lisburn late on Wednesday night when a car driving behind signalled for them to stop.

Believing this to be a police vehicle, they pulled over. The car pulled in behind before speeding off a few seconds later.

Police in Lisburn later stopped a vehicle matching the description in the early hours of Thursday morning on the Mullaghcartan Road and arrested the driver.

He was also interviewed on suspicion of obstructing police, and was subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Witnesses are asked to call the non-emergency number 101.
