PSNI probe into death of man in Portstewart

By David Young

Police are investigating the sudden death of a man in a rented house in Portstewart.

It’s understood that the body was found in an upstairs bedroom yesterday morning in a house in York Avenue in the town.

Neighbours said the female tenant of the property had been away for a couple of days, and made the shocking discovery when she returned yesterday.

It is not yet known how the man died.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said residents of the seaside town had been left shocked by the grim discovery.

“This is a quiet residential street,” she said.

“Nothing like this has ever happened here before.”

Last night the York Avenue house remained sealed off with police forensic officers at the scene as their investigation into the man’s death continued.
