PSNI probing second report of bomb in Fermanagh forest

By Staff Reporter

Police were last night investigating reports that a bomb had been left in a forest in Co Fermanagh - the second such warning in just over two weeks.

People living in or travelling through the Garrison and Belcoo areas were warned to be vigilant and not to touch any suspicious objects.

It followed reports that some type of explosive device had been left in a wooded area between Cashel Cross and Kiltyclogher.

Police were investigating the report last night and were working to establish the exact location of any such device. Superintendent Jane Humphries said: "The safety of the community is of paramount importance and we are appealing to anyone who notices any suspicious objects not to touch them but to contact police immediately by calling 999."

Shortly before Christmas police responded to a report that a suspect device had been left between Garrison and Belcoo.

An operation was immediately put in place to secure the area, with a section of the Cashel Road closed from its junction with Lattone Road and the border closed. However, nothing untoward was found.
