PSNI step up security in response to terror incidents
Police in Northern Ireland have stepped up patrols in central Belfast following terrorist attacks in the United Kingdom.
A terrorist attack at the Parsons Green tube station in London on Friday saw 30 people injured, one of whom remains in hospital.
A 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident and are being held on suspicion of terror offences.
In a statement on Facebook, a spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Due to recent security incidents throughout the UK, Lisburn Road PSNI have been deploying more reassurance patrols in and around the city centre paying particular attention to events ongoing in the city.
"You may see us carrying rifles or notice increased vehicle checkpoints but rest assured we are only here to keep people safe.
"As always with the weekend nightlife our main message is to get home safe."
