Public confidence in PSNI subject for forum

The Policing Board has confirmed plans for a two-day conference examining the issue of confidence in policing.

The conference, in Titanic Belfast on March 25 and 26, will look at the challenges for community confidence with the community and other key influencers.

Board chair Anne Connolly said: "We want the conference to provide a forum for discussion and understanding of the factors affecting community confidence in the policing service now and into the future. The role and influence of political representatives, community leaders and the media on confidence in policing will also be examined.

"As part of the debate we are keen to explore the importance of police accountability and oversight as a confidence building measure and how the board and others contribute to this."
