A quantity of suspected ammunition has been recovered following a police search in west Belfast.
The bomb squad attended during searches in the Bell Steel Road area of Poleglass behind the Glenbawn housing estate on Sunday afternoon.
Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Brown said: "Detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation UNit (TIU) conducted a planned search in the Bell Street area of west Belfast this morning, Sunday, 20 January, in relation to an ongoing investigation into dissident republican activity.
"A quantity of suspected ammunition was recovering during the search. It has been taken away for further forensic examination. "
Sinn Fein councillor Stephen Magennis told the Belfast Telegraph that no roads were closed during the search and that residents were not evacuated.
The focus of the search was on a small wooded area that lines the back gardens of the housing estate.
