Racist gang smashes house windows with a pick axe in Belfast

A group of men smashed the windows of two houses with bricks and threatened residents in a racist hate crime in the north of the city.

The incident took place last night (Monday, April 6) at Mountcollyer Avenue.

Inspector Roy Watton said: "It was reported to police that shortly after 8pm on Monday evening, a group of men approached a number of houses in Mountcollyer Avenue, smashing windows at two of the houses with a bricks and threatening the residents.

"One of the males involved was reported to have been carrying a pick axe.

"We are treating this incident as a racially motivated hate crime and I would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us to identify those responsible to contact police at Tennent Street on 101."
