Randalstown homes cleared after forecourt blaze

Parts of a Co Antrim town were sealed off last night after a fire broke out at a petrol filling station.

Police said that up to 100 homes were expected to be evacuated after a blaze at the garage in Randalstown.

A 200m exclusion zone was set up as the garage on the Station Road was believed to be storing gas cylinders.

Parents of pupils at St Benedict's and St Michael's, both on Station Road, were asked to check if the primary schools were open this morning.
