Rare car sale to include Delorean

By Amanda Poole

An auction house has been instructed by the executors of the will of the late businessman Donald Davies to sell his collection of classic cars, including an iconic Delorean.

The 1983 Delorean DMC-12 — built in Belfast and made famous by the Back to the Future movie trilogy starring Michael J Fox — is up for grabs on Thursday, April 12, at 6.30pm at Wilsons Auctions in Mallusk. Other cars to be sold are a 1971 VW Karmann Ghia, a 1957 Austin Nash Metropolitan, a 1956 Berkeley Sports Car, a 1956 Bond Minicar Mark D and a rare Messerschmitt three-wheeled ‘bubble car’.

Another entry from a separate vendor in the auction is a 1935 Austin 7 Ruby with only 2,000 miles on the clock. It was discovered in a barn in the 1980s and set a previous auction record when purchased in 1991.

The Wilsons auction will have a live online bidding system in place, enabling buyers to participate in the sale if they are unable to attend in person.

For more information on any of the cars, contact Wilsons Auctions on 028 9034 2626.
