A young mother-of-three from Rasharkin has spent hours preparing a special dress made out of foliage to help promote the village's forthcoming flower show.

It took Jayne Calderwood 10 hours over a few evenings to make the dress out of pampas grass.

All her efforts are to help promote the Festival of Flowers being hosted at Rasharkin Presbyterian Church over the weekend of May 20 to May 22.

Jayne said: "This is a huge event we are hosting in Rasharkin and already we have 600 women booked in for lunch over the three days.

"The dress was made to promote the event and will be displayed throughout the festival on a mannequin." She added: "I used to be a member of Glarryford Young Farmers Club and one of the programmes I enjoyed there was, indeed, flower arranging.

"I went to quite a few shows and competitions as a member and I guess the interest in flowers never left me.

"It was quite tough making the dress from foliage but I enjoyed it. Finding time to make it with three young kids was quite a challenge, but it will all be worth it in the end."
