Recycler’s calling cards
The Woodland Trust is asking everyone to recycle, rather than throw away, the huge amounts of Christmas cards received over the festive period, with the last ever year of its Christmas Card Recycling scheme.
Patrick Cregg, director of the Woodland Trust in Northern Ireland, said: “The scheme provides a fantastic opportunity to reduce the massive amounts of waste that would otherwise end up in landfill, while also supporting the creation of new native woodland right throughout the UK.
“We’re extremely grateful to the Northern Ireland public for supporting us in past years and we really hope that everyone will get behind us once again for the last ever year of the scheme.”
Take your cards to TK Maxx and Marks & Spencer stores, where special recycling bins will be in place throughout January.
Last year donations from participating retailers enabled 12,000 native trees to be planted throughout the UK. This year, the charity hopes to plant the 200,000th tree of the overall scheme, which is in its 14th and final year.
