Visuals artists from across Ireland will gather in Ards next week to gain an insight into how creative collectives work.
More than 40 individual artists, as well as those already working in groups, are expected to share their own experiences of collective working and to build new connections at the event.
Organised jointly by Ards Arts, the arts service of Ards Borough Council, and Visual Artists Ireland, the seminar, which will take place on March 3, will look at issues from managing, running and sustaining collectives or networks to international exchanges and European funding.
Community arts development officer Amy McKelvey said “The impetus for this event grew out of conversations between artists from the Creative Peninsula here in Ards, ourselves in the Arts Centre and Visual Artists Ireland and I’m delighted we’ve been able to pull together a programme which combines interesting guest speakers with the opportunity for artists to talk and discuss specific issues which affect or challenge them.
“There has already been extensive interest in the event from artists groups and collectives across the country and we anticipate a lively, enjoyable and rewarding day with an engaging range of contributing artists.”
The Visual Artists event takes place in Ards Arts Centre from 10am to 4pm. For more information telephone 9181 0803.
