The top-rated places to stay in Northern Ireland have been revealed.

Travel search site Trivago has released the results of its annual awards - naming the best accommodation, according to visitor ratings.

The top 3-star hotel in Northern Ireland is Harmony Hill Country House in Ballymoney, with a rating of 87.64.

Tara Lodge in Belfast, which was placed seventh in last year's awards, is awarded the best in two categories this year.

It was named the best 4-star hotel and the best accommodation for service, with rating scores of 91.46 and 94.01, respectively.

The best 5-star hotel is The Merchant in Belfast, which came fifth in Northern Ireland last year, and has a rating of 91.39.

The top-rated B&B is Cherryhill Lodge in Newcastle, with a score of 94.17.

The best value for money accommodation goes to a youth hostel rather than a hotel, with Vagabonds in Belfast scoring 92.08 in this category.

The top breakfast can be found at Park Inn by Radisson Belfast, with a score of 78.81.

Finally, the best accommodation for guest rooms is Belmore Court & Motel in Enniskillen, with a score of 90.82.

Johannes Thomas, managing director at Trivago, said the site aggregates and analyses more than 175 million hotel reviews from websites all over the world.

"This gives us strong insights into what hotels are particularly good at. Our Trivago awards recognise those hoteliers who deliver an exceptional experience to their guests, and we are proud and delighted to award those achievements," he said.
