Road crashes leave man dead and woman seriously hurt in Northern Ireland

A man has died following a two vehicle crash in Crumlin, Co Antrim.

It happened on Tuesday on the Ballyutoag Road. The man aged in his 20s was the driver of a car involved in a collision with a lorry shortly before 8.30pm.

The driver of the lorry was not seriously injured in the collision.

The Ballyutoag Road remained closed for some time yesterday between the Lylehill Road and Carn Road, but was later reopened to traffic.

The PSNI is appealing for anyone travelling on the Ballyutoag Road on Tuesday night and who witnessed the collision to contact police in Antrim or the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 1171.

In a separate crash on Tuesday, a woman in her 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The one vehicle crash happened on the Moyad Road in Newry just before 11.30pm.

The road was closed between the gatekeeper's lodge and the Bryansford Road at its junction with the Slievenaman Road.

A man in his 20s was also taken to hospital for treatment to injuries not believed to be life threatening.
