Roads improvements welcomed by MLA

The Roads Service has started improvement work to footpaths on a south Belfast street after residents expressed concern at the potential safety hazards of uneven pavements.

New upgrades are now being carried out to improve the surface quality at Osborne Drive.

Some residents were particularly worried for the safety of elderly members of the community.

South Belfast MLA Conall McDevitt said work to resurface and repair the footpaths was expected to last approximately six to eight weeks.

“We will be monitoring the work and would like feedback from you too,” he urged residents.

“We welcome this progress from the Roads Service and I will continue to press for further improvements around the south Belfast area.”

A Roads Service spokeswoman confirmed the work has started.
