Romanians in fear after paint thrown at their home

By Nevin Farrell

A Romanian woman said her family are living in fear in Ballymena after an attack on their home.

Bianca Moldovan was speaking after paint was thrown at the living room window of the house where her father, mother and brother live at Moat Road in the Harryville area.

It was one of three attacks being treated as hate crimes by the PSNI.

Ms Moldovan lives elsewhere in the town, but she said the paint attack was "scary".

Some foreign nationals in the area have had CCTV installed on their properties following previous attacks.

The PSNI said the incidents, which happened at around 12.40am yesterday, were disgusting.

The spokesman added: "Three males were observed in the area at the time and police would be very keen to identify them.

"We work so closely with the local community and I am convinced that this type of behaviour is not welcome."

The spokesman asked witnesses to ring police on 101.
