Royal assent for Northern Ireland Welfare Reform Bill
The Northern Ireland (Welfare Reform) Bill has been given royal assent, the Lords heard.
The controversial welfare changes were rushed through both houses of parliament as part of the "Fresh Start" deal between the DUP, Sinn Fein, and the London and Dublin administrations, in order to prevent the collapse of power-sharing in Northern Ireland.
