Children at Blythefield Primary School in Sandy Row, Belfast, have raised £305.45 for the Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance (NCCA UK)in memory of Mallusk boy Oscar Knox.
cheque was presented to Oscar's mother Leona at a special assembly.
Acting principal Catherine Roulston said: "When two little girls in P4 asked could we raise money in memory of Oscar, we were absolutely delighted to get involved.
"Oscar's story really struck a chord with the pupils and their families.
"The Sandy Row community are overwhelming in showing their kindness and compassion for those in need.
"The word religion never entered the minds of these children, they just wanted to be able to help others in need in memory of Oscar.
"Blythefield PS and the Sandy Row community are filled with people who are loving and caring, their generosity and passion for others is relentless.
"The pupils were very excited to meet Oscar's mum Leona to present the money they had raised for NCCA UK, they also asked lots of questions about Oscar.
"Leona so graciously and humbly spent lots of time with the children and answered all their questions.
"She will return to Blythefield to officially open our newly installed playground equipment and unveil a plaque 'In memory of Oscar Knox'. Pupils are proud that any new children who will come to our school Open Day December 3, 2014, will see the new play equipment with Oscar's plaque on it."
