Schools fired up for mascot

A new competition will give hundreds of pupils at primary and special schools across Northern Ireland the opportunity to create the official mascot for one of the world’s largest sporting events coming to Belfast — the World Police and Fire Games.

Those behind the games, to be held in 2013, are encouraging schools to get creative and design their own superhero mascot for the event.

The winning design will become the official mascot for the 2013 games and will be unveiled at the winning school in June.

The mascot will then be showcased in New York this August when the games are handed over to Belfast.
