Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro delay show to enable fans to see game

By Rebecca Black

Biffy Clyro fans with tickets for Belsonic tonight will be able to watch Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 match against Wales at the original Titanic fanzone.

The Scottish rock band have delayed their performance at Belsonic to allow fans to watch the match on a big screen at Titanic Belfast.

There was anger earlier this week among Northern Ireland fans when it emerged that the official fanzone at Titanic Belfast would not be available for today's match due to Belsonic.

Frantic negotiations took place with First Minister Arlene Foster, Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and Belfast Lord Mayor Brian Kingston even getting involved in a bid to find an alternative venue for the fanzone.

But now Biffy Clyro have offered to rearrange the set times of their Belsonic show to allow their fans to watch both the match and the show.

The move was announced on Belsonic's Facebook page yesterday.

To facilitate this offer, the doors will open at the earlier time of 4.30pm ahead of the match kick-off at 5pm.

The Northern Ireland versus Wales last 16 clash will be shown on the big screen for ticket-holders only.

"Big thanks to Biffy Clyro for helping to make this happen," a Belsonic spokesman said in a statement.

"The match kicks off at 5pm. All artists will perform as advertised after the match is concluded.

"Last remaining tickets for the concert are on sale now from Ticketmaster outlets, and a limited number will be available on the day from the main entrance box office from 4.30pm."
