Search after reports of person entering water at Belfast Harbour

A search operation has been launched after reports of a person entering the water in the Belfast Harbour.

The Community Rescue Service told the the Belfast Telegraph it was tasked at 11am to work in a joint operation with the Coastguard, Lagan Search and Rescue and the PSNI after reports of a person entering the water.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police responded to a report of concern for the safety of a man close to the Lagan Weir in Belfast around 10am this morning.

"Officers are currently carrying out a search of the area in conjunction with a number of agencies including Lagan Search & Rescue and HM Coastguard. There are no further details at this time."
