Police in east Belfast are trying to trace the owner of a parakeet-type bird that flew into a police station.

It is thought it flew through an open window and was discovered in an office at Strandtown station on Wednesday.

The bird is described as yellow with black dots and a red cardinal cap.

"We believe it is used to being handled as it is very friendly and unafraid of people. The bird is being fostered by one of the officers," said a PSNI spokeswoman.
