The hunt is on for 500 people to train as golf ambassadors ahead of The Open taking place at Royal Portrush in July.

The championship - which culminates on July 21 - will be the biggest event ever staged on the North Coast and will draw the world's top golfers as well as tens of thousands of spectators.

The WorldHost training programme, which will be delivered by accredited trainers at a number of golf clubs across the Causeway Coast and Glens from next month, is aimed at those in the retail, tourism, accommodation and hospitality sectors.

Causeway Coast and Glens Mayor Brenda Chivers said: "It is vitally important that our business community is equipped with the appropriate knowledge and understanding to create positive experiences which will set us apart as a destination."

The WorldHost training programme, subsidised by the Council and Tourism NI, costs £15 per delegate including lunch and will be delivered through a half day workshop.
