Security alert ends: Viable pipe bomb made safe in north Belfast
A security alert has ended after a viable pipe bomb, moved from the garden of a house to nearby waste ground, was made safe in north Belfast.
The alert was sparked following the discovery of a suspicious object.
Police and army bomb experts attended the alert in the Shore Road.
A viable pipe bomb was made safe and has been seized for forensic examination.
Detective Sergeant Dolores Black said: “The device was discovered in the rear garden of a house in Shore Crescent shortly before midday.
"It was moved, by the resident, to nearby waste ground on Shore Road where it was examined by police and ATO.
"We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the device being left or who has any information that could assist the police investigation. CID at Musgrave Police Station can be contacted on 101.”
The Shore Road had been closed at its junctions with Grays Lane and Donegall Park Avenue but now all cordons are being lifted.
