The security alert in north Belfast has ended

Police and ATO examined a suspicious object which was discovered in the area on Monday afternoon.

A number of roads were closed during the operation and have since reopened.

Residents which were evacuated from their homes have been allowed to return.

Detective Inspector Paul Rowland said: “The device, which was discovered by workmen as they were clearing drains in the area, has now been taken away for further examination to determine if it was viable.
