Service station near Cloughmills to create 30 jobs

By Colin Francis

At least 30 new jobs could be created with the development of a motorway services-style filling station and drive-through restaurant complex on one of Northern Ireland's busiest roads.

Approval has been given for the development at the landmark Logan's Fashions site near Cloughmills on the A26 Frosses Road between Ballymena and Coleraine.

With planning permission in place it is believed the developers want to get the work under way before the end of the year and hope to open it early next year.

The developers are Mr and Mrs Don Logan, who own the Logan's Fashions complex. The site will be located close to these premises.

Planning approval is for a 'Service Area including Fast Food Restaurant, Picnic Area, Petrol Filling Station and Associated Shop'.

It is believed a bid will be made to bring a prominent fast-food provider such as McDonald's or KFC to the Logan's site.

Approval for the scheme has been welcomed by Ballymoney Borough councillor Bill Kennedy.

"I'm delighted it has got planning permission and I would welcome this as it is going to create jobs," he said."

The news is the latest positive employment development in the Ballymoney area, with 60 potential jobs at a factory and a hotel .
