Seven Northern Ireland pubs praised by prestigious Michelin guide

By Luke Barnes

Seven Northern Ireland pubs have made the cut to secure coveted listings in a premier food guide.

Michelin's Eating Out In Pubs had six locals listed in Co Down and one in Co Antrim - Billy Andy's at Mounthill, near Larne.

The pubs in Co Down included the Pheasant in Annahilt, the Poacher's Pocket in Comber, the Parson's Nose and Plough Inn in Hillsborough, Pier 36 in Donaghadee and Balloo House in Killinchy.

Paul Dalrymple, head chef of Billy Andy's, said that sourcing ingredients locally was key to success.

He added that the pub become a staple in the community, and that people would travel a "significant distance" in order to visit.

He credited Richard and Anna Hunter, who have owned the pub for 24 years.

Billy Andy's has been in Co Antrim for over two centuries.
