Seven rescued from cabin cruiser on Strangford Lough

Seven people were rescued from two islands on Strangford Lough after a cabin cruiser developed electrical problems.

They had sailed to Green Island where three were dropped off before the rest set sail for neighbouring Salt Island. However, the cruiser experienced electrical problems and those onboard decided to 'beach' their craft on Salt Island.

All seven were rescued by Portaferry Lifeboat crew. RNLI Operations Manager Brian Bailie said: "Once again all the hard work and hours invested in training has paid off with a happy ending to today's rescue."
