Sex assault: two men are quizzed by police

By Chris Kilpatrick

Two men remained in police custody last night as detectives questioned them following a serious sexual assault.

The alleged attack took place at a house in the Hillhall Road area of Lisburn, Co Antrim, on Sunday morning.

Two men, aged 36 and 39, were arrested and remained in police custody throughout yesterday.

Residents in the area said they were stunned at news of the sex assault.

Alan Carlisle, a DUP councillor and member of the local Policing and Community Safety Partnership, said the alleged attack was "deplorable and abhorrent". "It is vital anybody with any information brings that to the authorities as we don't want anything like this happening in our city," he added.

"Sex assaults are a crime which should not be tolerated."

Party colleague, MLA Jonathan Craig, said news of the attack had shocked those in the area.

A resident of the area added: "You don't want to hear news of this happening anywhere, but it seems even more shocking when it is so close to you."
