Shane Nicholl: Northern Ireland primary school pupil (10) who died suddenly 'brought a smile to everyone who knew him'

Tributes have been paid to a ten-year-old boy who "brought a smile to all who knew him" after he died suddenly.

Shane Nicholl was a primary seven pupil at St Dallan's Primary School in Warrenpoint.

He passed away in Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.

In a statement the school paid tribute to the youngster.

It said: "The principal, staff, Board of Governors, children, parents and wider community of St. Dallan's Primary School, Warrenpoint are shocked and saddened by the sudden and heart breaking loss of Shane, our precious Primary 7 child.

"His endearing personality and sense of humour brought a smile to all of us who knew him. May his gentle, young soul rest in peace."

Warrenpoint GAA also offered their sympathies to the family.

Shane's grandfather is a senior committee member and former chairman of the club.

The club said: "It is with deep sadness that we are informed of the sudden death of Shane Nicholl.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shannon and Nicholl families at this very sad and tragic time."
