Shop worker threatened in armed raid

A shop worker has been threatened during an armed robbery in Newry.

It happened in the Canal Street area on Wednesday night.

It was reported that at around 9.30pm a masked man entered a shop armed with a knife.

He then demanded cash from a member of staff.

He left the premises with a sum of cash after threatening the staff member.

He is believed to have made off in a light coloured saloon type vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Bell is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1434 of 28/02/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
