Police in Northern Ireland are investigating after shots were reportedly fired at the home of a well-known republican in Lurgan during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police said they received a report that shots were fired at the residential property in the town.

Superintendent Wendy Middleton said: "Police attended the area, and enquiries are ongoing."

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around 1:45am, and who saw or heard anything suspicious, to call police on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 136 of 23/04/19.”

Alternatively information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
