The funeral of showband singer Ivan Vaughan, who died during Storm Desmond this week, took place yesterday.

Mourners gathered for the funeral service at St Anne's Church in Dungannon, and his remains were later interred at Cottagequinn Cemetery.

Mr Vaughan (70) died when his car was trapped by sudden flooding on the small cross-border road leading from Glaslough, Co Monaghan, to his home in Caledon, Co Tyrone.

His body was found just 10 metres from the vehicle.

Mr Vaughan, who had been a showband singer with The Plattermen performing under the stage name of Simon Scott, had been playing a gig in the Monaghan village.
