Sinn Fein 'deeply saddened' over death of former MLA Pat O'Rawe

A former Sinn Fein MLA has died. Pat O'Rawe represented the Newry and Armagh constituency between 2003 and 2007.

She was the first Sinn Fein mayor of the former Armagh City and District Council, serving as a councillor from 2001 to 2007.

Newry and Armagh Sinn Fein MP Mickey Brady extended his sympathies to her family.

"Sinn Fein in Newry and Armagh is deeply saddened to hear the news of Pat O'Rawe's passing," he said. "Pat was first elected to Armagh City and District Council as a Sinn Fein councillor for the Crossmore Ward in 2003.

"She subsequently represented the Newry and Armagh constituency as a Sinn Fein MLA from 2003 to 2007."

Newry and Armagh Sinn Fein MLA Cathal Boylan said: "On behalf of Sinn Fein and the wider community in Armagh, I want to extend our​ deepest sympathies and condolences to the O'Rawe family at this difficult time."
