Sinn Fein man in Twitter row over murders by IRA
Sinn Fein has denied one of its Belfast councillors said the IRA was not involved in criminal activity during the Troubles.
It comes after Councillor JJ Magee was involved in an exchange on Twitter following the Secretary of State Karen Bradley's comments on "no crime" in security force killings. She later retracted her comment and apologised.
After Mr Magee was asked on Twitter if any of the IRA murders were "criminal", he replied: "Do you believe in the law?"
He was then pressed on the issue, when one Twitter user asked: "Do you consider any of the PIRA murders criminal? That's all I'm asking." JJ Magee responded: "No."
A Sinn Fein spokesman said Mr Magee was responding to the first question on answering questions with questions.
He said Mr Magee was taking legal action against some Twitter users for "misrepresenting the exchange".
