Sinn Fein minister Caral Ni Chuilin denies bias in cash for languages
The Culture Minister has defended giving Irish language projects three times more funding than Ulster-Scots.
Caral Ni Chuilin said the funding levels reflected the "different stages of development" programmes and projects dedicated to Irish and Ulster-Scots are at.
At Assembly question time, DUP MLA Gordon Dunne accused the minister of breaching her own department's equality policies.
"What is the minister doing to address these inequalities between the promotion of the Irish language and Ulster-Scots," the North Down Member asked.
But Ms Ni Chuilin claimed her rival was "just using question time to score political points".
The Sinn Fein minister added: "The Executive remains wholly committed to affording equal respect and recognition to the Irish and Ulster-Scots and the funding provided to each reflects their different stages of development and ranges of programmes and projects and supported organisations."
