Sinn Fein has praised the success of television hit series 'Derry Girls'.
MP Elisha McCallion, a fan of the Maiden City show, has said that the show's runaway success is shining a positive light on the City of Derry.
The Sinn Fein MP said: "Every week over a million people are tuning in to watch a good-natured comedy about my native city.
"When I travel throughout Ireland, and to London, the reaction of people to the show's portrayal of Derry is uniquely positive.
"The success is shining a positive light on the rich cultural heritage of Derry City, while raising the profile of our city, sure to encourage tourism and engagement."
The Foyle MP added: "I would like to congratulate and commend Lisa McGee, the show's creator and a Derry native, for her achievement and immensely positive contribution in bringing Derry to an international audience on a Thursday night."
