Sinn Fein's McDonald to meet Chief Constable
Mary-Lou McDonald will meet Northern Ireland's most senior police officer today for the first time since becoming Sinn Fein president.
She will lead a party delegation including deputy leader Michelle O'Neill and policing spokesman Gerry Kelly to a meeting with Chief Constable George Hamilton in Belfast.
Ms McDonald said they will raise a series of "pressing issues" with Mr Hamilton, including the placing of loyalist flags in mixed developments in south and east Belfast.
She added: "It is important there is a sustained policing effort to tackle the scourge of paramilitary intimidation and violence and its effect on public confidence.
"We will also express our view that the dilution of neighbourhood police teams and cuts to the budgets affecting policing with the community is a serious mistake."
