Sister plea for brother found in reservoir

The grieving sister of a man whose body was found in a reservoir says she won’t find closure until she discovers what happened to her beloved brother.

The body of Stephen Buchanan was discovered in the upper reservoir on the Woodburn Road, Carrickfergus, on Saturday.

The 56-year-old from Ballycarry was last seen on September 26, riding a black and orange Canondale bicycle in the Groomsport-Millisle area.

That bike, as well as Mr Buchanan’s helmet and mobile phone, is still missing.

While Mr Buchanan had been devastated by the death of his mother in January, neither the police nor family know whether foul play was involved.

Mr Buchanan’s sister Linda Hooke yesterday begged anyone who knows of the whereabouts of any of the items to contact police.

“We don’t know whether he went in because he was mourning for my mother still or whether somebody has hit him and he’s gone into the water that way. Until I know what’s happened to him and what his last moments were I haven’t got closure,” she said.
