Six arrested over theft of thousands from ATM in Fermanagh

Six people have been arrested after thousands was stolen from an ATM in Fermanagh.

The theft happened on Thursday at a machine in a shop in the small village of Trory, on the outskirts of Enniskillen.

It was reported to police around 11am on Thursday morning, but is believed to have happened between 1.30am and 5.30am.

Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson said: "We believe the perpetrators cut the street lighting and alarm wires prior to forcing entry to the shop and were then on site for a number of hours."

Five men and one woman aged between 22 and 51 have been detained as part of a police operation in the Crossgar area on Thursday night.

All six remain in custody and are helping police with their enquiries.

Police have appealed for anyone with information, or who may have been travelling on the Irvinestown Road between 1.30am and 5.30am on Thursday August 2, to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference 1165 with the date 02/08/2018.
