Six have lucky escape after 'mystery' collision

By Brett Campbell

Six people escaped with minor injuries following a "mystery" collision involving a car and a caravan.

Ambulance crews attended the scene on the Ballybogey Road in Bushmills shortly before 1pm yesterday.

The Fire and Rescue Service was also dispatched.

One driver who witnessed the aftermath said it was a miracle no one died.

"It's a very busy road so this could have been much worse," he said. "It was a bit of a mystery - there was no tow bar on the Mondeo and no other car."

George Henderson, who owns Bush Caravan Site, panicked after hearing the collision, which happened just yards from his holiday park.

"I was expecting a caravan to arrive and thought it had been involved in the smash," he said.

"Luckily, it pulled up in the yard a few moments later."
