By Claire Williamson

It's a heartwarming story of a random act of kindness that made a little girl's day.

Six-year-old Joy Beresford from Lisburn was inspired after she found out that she shared the same birthday as her Asda delivery driver.

So much so that the little girl made him a birthday card.

And when she gave the card to, Nigel Wilson, who delivers the family's shopping each week, he was so touched he made a special trip to present her with a card of his own plus a birthday cake.

Asda posted the story on their Facebook page and it was shared hundreds of times receiving thousands of likes.

Joy's mum Michelle said: "Joy was delighted with her special birthday delivery from Asda – she’s counting down the days to her next birthday already."

She added: "My daughter will always remember this Asda, Thank you teaching her that one little act of kindness has long consequences.."

Nigel said: "I’ve been working at Asda for years and as a home shopping driver I enjoy getting to know my regular customers. It was lovely to be on the receiving end of such a special birthday delivery – it really made my day."
