Arlene Foster and Michelle O'Neill were all smiles when they were snapped together at an awards ceremony at the weekend.

The DUP leader and Sinn Fein vice-president were pictured together by former Miss GB Gemma Garrett alongside her brother, Cliftonville ace Stephen Garrett and father, also named Stephen.

Following months of Brexit crisis, the pair were guests at the Firmus Energy Local Women Magazine Awards in Belfast's Europa Hotel on Saturday night.

There has been no Executive or Assembly since January 2017, when power-sharing between Sinn Fein and the DUP broke down.

Last week Northern Ireland Secretary Karen Bradley suggested she was open to appointing an independent person to chair talks designed to restore power-sharing at Stormont.

Reacting to the picture on Sunday night, TUV leader Jim Allister tweeted: "Cosy. DUP/SF now into group hugs. Hmm."
