A snake has been found in a Co Armagh street.

Officers out on Monday night spotted what looked like a couple of suspicious men in the Ulsterville Park area of Portadown.

On stopping for a chat the men told police they had found a snake.

"Thankfully Con N was able to channel his inner Steve Irwin and placed it in an evidence bag until we could get something more appropriate," said Armagh police in a Facebook post.

"We are going to leave it in the reptile shop on Mahon Road when they open. If this is yours please bring proof of ownership and they'll get you sorted."
